The Huawei P30 Pro is the latest offering from the Chinese Smartphone manufacturer Huawei. It’s their latest flagship that follows the Huawei P20 released last year. Emphasis on camera has been put on this device that has made many reviewers rank on top of it’s competition. In fact, DXOMARK scores put it above all others flagship phones available. In these score specifically, there are two Huawei phones namely; Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro taking the next top two positions followed by the previous released Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. This goes to show how impressive Huawei phones have gotten in the camera department.

Huawei P30 Pro features a Quad camera set-up at the back, meaning four cameras vertically aligned on top of the other. The one on the top has a massive wide 27mm 40 mega-pixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture. In the middle is a ultra-wide 16mm 20 mega-pixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. And the one at the bottom a Periscope 125mm 8 mega-pixel telephoto lens with f/3.4 aperture with a massive 5x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization. This third sensor is the first of it’s kind to find it’s way in a smartphone. Most smartphones with a telephoto lens have been known to have a 2x optical zoom. This device exceeds that by taking clear photo at a further distance using this sensor.

The fourth camera sensor is a Time-of-Flight 3D depth sensor that has made it’s way on a few of flagship phones released recently. It’s purpose is to gather more detail about the object being shot.

Huawei also boasts about it’s night mode in it’s recent flagship phones including this one that lets it’s phone take clearer images in very dark environments compared to images taken by the best of it’s competition. The Huawei P30 Pro is by far undoubtedly the best in this department.

On the front, the phone features a wide 32 mega-pixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 that reportedly takes very sharp high detailed selfies judging by how large the sensor is.
The display is a 6.47 inch 1080 by 2340 OLED panel with a 398 pixel-per-inch screen density. OLED technology offers more sharpness and high contrast colors on phones like the P30 Pro. Underneath the display is an optical fingerprint sensor as well.

The phone is powered by Huawei’s latest 7 nanometer Octacore chip the Kirin 980 with Mali-G76 GPU. It comes with either 6GB RAM in the 128GB storage version and 8GB RAM in 128/256/512 GB storage configuration. It also runs Huawei’s EMUI 9.1 system on top of Android 9.0 Pie.

The P30 Pro comes with a massive Non-removable Li-Po 4200 mAh battery, features fast battery charging via USB Type-C using a 40W charger that charges from 0 to 70% in just 30 minutes. The device also supports fast wireless charging with included features like reversible wireless charging that basically turns the phone into a charger for other devices that support wireless charging.

The Huawei P30 Pro is without doubt a premium phone in the price bracket of phones like the Galaxy S10 Plus or iPhone XS Max. Also to note, there is the regular version, the P30, that costs a bit less for the single fact that it has a smaller display and lacks the Periscope 5x Optical Zoom sensor at the back.
