For the past months Microsoft has been working on bringing the finished product of it’s browser, Microsoft Edge to Android and iOS. A number of people had signed up for testing with the Beta build of this browser on these two platforms. Now the finished product is available to use on the respective platform App Stores.
It was a move expected since most Microsoft products have already launched on Android for example Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Launcher, OneNote among others.
Microsoft Edge for Android brings Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 user experience to Android and this will no doubt benefit those who have relied on Windows 10 Microsoft Edge for the most time. A number of reviews from Play Store also suggest it could be faster than many browsers on Android including Chrome.
One of the unique features Edge brings on Android is “continue to PC” functionality that lets a user open the currently opened website on phone directly on PC in Edge. It may come in handy if a particular website doesn’t load perfectly on phone or if the user wants to use a mouse and keyboard. It’s user interface is a modern one, flat as usual and Bing is default search engine with ability to switch to other engines like Yahoo, Google, Ask and AOL. It comes with a barcode or QR Code scanner and voice search right on the browser home screen.
Just like Microsoft Edge for PC, new updates are delivered right on the browser home screen when data network connection is detected. It also comes with a dark theme best for use at night. Edge also lets you sync your favorites and reading list between phone and PC with the ability to remember website passwords between phone and PC.
Microsoft Edge is definitely a must-try especially for people who use Microsoft services a lot more so Microsoft Edge for PC as their default PC Browser.
