Android 7.1 Nougat has been out for a while but we can’t deny the fact that it has been for a select few phones. Many manufactures as well haven’t pushed this update to their phones. This hasn’t stopped Android developers and enthusiast from having a taste of this new Android version even before they get an official update. In most cases some of these phones no longer receive official firmware updates and that’s where custom roms like Cyanogenmod come in handy.
For the past few weeks test or beta versions of this Cyanogenmod 14.1 (based on Android 7.1 Nougat) have been available for anyone that has been willing to try them but now we see official builds come through for a number of phones thanks to the very large number of Cyanogenmod Developers around who have put work into providing these systems. Some of the phones that have received official builds include:
- LG G3 Beat (jagnm)
- LG G3 S (jag3gds)
- HTC One A9 (GSM US) (hiaeul)
- HTC One (M8) (m8)
- HTC One (M8) Dual SIM (m8d)
- BQ Aquaris M5 (piccolo)
- Xiaomi Redmi 1S (armani)
Developers also state that Cyanogenmod 14.1 nightly builds are in the works for the Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy S3, and a selection of Chinese devices as well. The current builds for these phones are still unofficial. They can however be used and found at XDA Forums for anyone willing to try them.
