It is used to flash stock firmware onto Sony smartphones. It is the tool used to recover a Sony phone in case it will not start or the software on board is corrupt. It is also used to flash kernels and other system partitions. Also comes in handy in case any Sony user wishes to flash a custom rom onto his phone. In that case, it can be used to flash a custom kernel (with a custom recovery) onto a phone, which recovery can then be used to flash a custom rom.
NOTE: Xperia C4 and C5 users should not flash using Flashtool. It will brick the device. Xperia M5 users please do use FSC when flashing or it will brick your device.
