Google has broken ties with Huawei following a detective by the American government signed by President Trump. This would immediately stop Huawei from accessing and United States services and technology which includes Google’s Android.
Huawei will therefore not be able to use any of Google’s services and Applications like GMail, YouTube, Play Store, Android Updates, Security Updates and more.
Reuters, that broke this news cited a source close to the matter, Google was forced into suspending business with Huawei that “requires the transfer of hardware and software products.”
Reuters also noted, “Huawei Technologies Co Ltd will immediately lose access to updates to the Android operating system, and the next version of its smartphones outside of China will also lose access to popular applications and services including the Google Play Store and Gmail app. ”
Regarding existing Huawei services using Google’s Android, a notice has been issued by Google on their Android Twitter account as seen below that these phones will continue to have these services working.
For Huawei users’ questions regarding our steps to comply w/ the recent US government actions: We assure you while we are complying with all US gov’t requirements, services like Google Play & security from Google Play Protect will keep functioning on your existing Huawei device.

It should also be mentioned that Android itself is Open Source meaning Huawei could build it’s own Android without Google’s services which will also be able to support Android Apps. Huawei also reported it already has its own Mobile Operating system it prepared in preparation of such events.
