It was fingerprint scanner that went under the display, now there could be possibility for selfie cameras to go beneath the display as well. There has been rumors of under display selfie cameras being developed by Oppo a sister company of Vivo the first company to have introduced the in-display fingerprint scanner.

In a video on Twitter shared by Oppo, an employee proudly shows off what looks to be the upper part of a phone display. The employee opens the camera app which reveals what seems to look like a selfie image. He obscures the upper part of the phone with a finger to prove the camera sensor is under the display.

There is no detailed look at the selfie taken to determine it’s quality but at least the new technology is proven to work. With further development this could be the next big wave in smartphone development that paves way for fully bezel-less devices without works arounds like Pop-up cameras or camera cut-outs in displays.
