It is about a year now since Tecno launched their recent flagship phones the Tecno Phantom 6 and 6 Plus. They are indeed powerful phones, the Phantom 6 powered by an octa-core processor and a deca-core processor for the Phantom 6 Plus. Tecno is ready to move to the next step, this meaning a more powerful phone with newer hardware and software than these current two flagships.

Tecno has been teasing this upcoming Phantom phone on their social media platforms and as a few predicted, Tecno is skipping the Phantom 7 straight to the Phantom 8. The teased images clearly indicate an ‘8’ in them. But why skip the Phantom 7? I guess it could be because the latest models from top brands have an ‘8’ in them. Talk about the Samsung Galaxy S8, Note 8 and iPhone 8. It makes sense for Tecno to desire to portray a similar image top brands show.

There is speculation about the Phantom 8 and possibly 8 Plus specifications many of which are guesses, but there are some things we definitely expect. For example, if the current Phantom 6 is powered by the octa-core Mediatek Helio X10, and Phantom 6 Plus powered by the deca-core Mediatek Helio X20, the upcoming Phantom 8 or Phantom 8 Plus should be powered by the new deca-core Mediatek Helio X30. We also see what looks to be dual-lens camera set-up in one of the teased images.

We shall be finding out more specifications about this upcoming Tecno flagship and give you a comprehensive run down through the official spec sheet when the device is launched. The Phantom 8 will be unveiled on 22nd this month in Dubai.
