The Essential Phone PH-1 was one of the phones that generated hype in 2017 mostly due to it’s design and powerful specifications. This was a brand new phone from brand new company that was was created by Android co-founder Andy Rubin.
The device featured a unique design at the time and was presented to us as the first phone with a notch small enough to give off a near bezel-less display and an AMOLED display at that. It was no slouch either when it came to performance as it packed the Snapdragon 835, the best chipset at the moment.

The company however has faced significant challenges to keep up with the demand of the device including delayed market launch, top executives like it’s vice president of marketing leaving the company, reducing the it’s number of employees and discounts on it’s phone that evidently reduced revenue.
At the moment the Essential Phone PH-1 is no more following a statement from a spokesman of Essential that there is something new in works possible a new phone.
“We are sold out of Essential Phone on essential.com and won’t be adding any new inventory. We are now hard at work on our next mobile product and will continue to sell accessories and provide speedy software updates and customer support to our existing community.”
With that said, it’s clear there will be no update to the original Essential Phone and therefore killing all hopes for the Essential Phone PH-2. However, we wait eagerly to find out what the next new mobile product will be.
